Here is another story about how Pilates has changed someone's life for the better. This is Megan Densmore's Pilates Story.

"I started gymnastics at 3 years old and by the age of 6 I was competing and training daily. At 7 a typical week for me consisted of being picked up from school and going directly to gymnastics practice until late in the evening Monday through Friday and traveling to competitions on the weekends. As part of my gymnastics training I started lifting weights at about 6 years old. I competed until age 12 at which point I decided to focus on ballet, track, and basketball.

I remained very active in sports until I was 15 and my body began to break down. At 15 I was diagnosed with a chronic pain disorder (Fibromyalgia), but I tried my best to stay active sensing that working through the pain was better than allowing it to control me. The pain intensified to an almost unbearable level until at 22 I discovered Pilates. As I worked toward becoming a certified instructor and my knowledge base grew I slowly and systematically retrained my muscles and realigned my body. The pain began to disappear. At 26 I am completely free of chronic pain.

Pilates completely changed the course and quality of my life and I am grateful for my ability to share the tradition with others everyday".

Megan now teaches Pilates in New York, while attending Columbia University. She attributes her ability to handle all the stress of such a busy schedule to her Pilates practice.
